Our final day of Broughtons GT:08 saw us travel across the eastern edge of the Haute Alps enjoying more breathtaking scenery en route.
The stunning views of Monte Carlo itself lay await as we wound down the hillside into Casino Square located in front of the world famous Hotel de Paris.
There was an opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of the remarkable principality before our black-tie gala dinner and prize giving evening which was held on the terraces overlooking the harbour. Robert Foster, Managing Director of Broughtons, was delighted to address the gathering recalling how much fun everyone had clearly had during the week, and re-emphasising how much pleasure it gives the Broughtons staff to bring customers together on an event like this. Robert went on to announce the Broughtons GT:08 prize winners and presented the awards, in true tradition he began in reverse order.
In 25th place and on their first Broughtons GT event came Anthony Nicholls and Janet Dancer winning a case of champagne kindly donated by Wrightson and Co.
Granville Wise and Wendy Wright, returning for their 2nd Broughtons GT, came in 15th place receiving their prize of an Aston Martin performance driving course, courtesy of Aston Martin UK.
In 10th place came Paul and Susannah Dancer who received a set of tyres courtesy of Pirelli.
In 3rd place and on their 2nd Broughtons GT, came Keith and Norah Ashworth who were presented with a hot air balloon trip by Gerry Callaghan, Sales and Marketing Director for AON Private Clients. Max and Paula McNeill, now into their 3rd Broughtons GT event came second and were presented with their prize by Teresa Haigh courtesy of Sunseeker Sales Group.
And finally it was time to announce the overall winners of the Broughtons GT trophy. Robert was joined for the presentation of the prizes and trophy by Alex Rose, a Director of Beards the Jewellers, title sponsor of the Broughtons GT event. Robert was absolutely thrilled to announce that car number one driven by Chris and Carol Krzak had won Broughtons GT:08 for the second time. Amid the cheering and applause Robert presented the winners with the Broughtons Steering Wheel Trophy and also an exclusive personalised I & MT watch and a 1 ct round brilliant cut diamond courtesy of Beards the Jewellers. A very emotional Chris then took to the podium to thank the team at Broughtons and The Supercar Club for a truly outstanding week and to announce they would definitely be returning in 2009 to defend their title!
A fabulous charity auction was then held in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres which raised funds to assist Maggie’s with their ambitious target to build five more Centres in the UK.
The ensuing party then continued until the early hours of the morning with a great deal of reminiscing over the spectacular mountain roads and the staggering scenery that had been so thoroughly enjoyed by everyone during the week.
